Advertising coffee

I have always been very pleased to watch coffee advertisements as they look so nice and tasty. I have done some research about coffee commercials and was amused by one of the oldest coffee advertisements.

In line with the patriarchal culture of that time, a housewife is trying to please her husband by preparing a nice cup of coffee, only to receive a negative reaction because of its bad taste. After his disappointment she shares the problem with her friend and asks for advice. The friend gives her a tip - the ''best coffee brand''. When the husband comes back home, she prepares the perfect coffee to finally satisfy him and regain the happiness in the family.

Now lets see the evolution of the level of coffee satisfaction. Or how the modern woman offers coffee and how a man reacts...

  1. looool what a change !!! i think our society is so focused on sex its crazy.Even though the first one is sexist and portays women as inferior to men and with the only wish to please them. The second one is wayyyy to sexual for me. the white mousse on her lips, the "it would blow you away" and the coffee splashes on the man's hand. its TOO MUCH, imagine kids watching tv and seeing that..

  2. Both ads represent the magic of coffee and how it can bring people together. It's just as seductive as love can be and women use it as a weapon to please the male part of the society. Pleasure is the hidden word in both ads.

  3. Both ads are sexist to me. I want to see an advertisement where a man tries to satisfy a woman's needs and taste ... for coffee.
